Netcentrex
CDC Innovation first invested in Netcentrex’s seed round of financing as co-lead investor alongside Innovacom in February 1999. At that time, the company had just spun off from France Telecom’s labs with a promising IP softswitch technology.
From this stage onwards, Netcentrex went on to develop an aggressive organic growth plan, acquired a company, MG2, to broaden its products portfolio, and raised several rounds of financing with top tier VC funds. In addition to participating to these successive rounds, CDC Innovation played an active role in strengthening the company’s execution capabilities. By 2004, Netcentrex was truly recognized as the industry leader with annual revenues in excess of 40 M$ and a strong profitability.
Netcentrex was successfully sold to Comverse in May 2006 for 150 M€ in cash.
This is a good example of how CDC Innovation plays an active role in turning early stage companies into worldwide leaders. It also highlights the team’s broad range of expertise to understand the potential of disruptive technologies and market penetration strategies.
